This is an interesting photo, because snails normally hide during the day so they can avoid the sun. Even though snails can live in relatively dry conditions, they require some moisture which is why during the day they usually hide in the soil or in the shade. Snails are usually viewed as pests because at night they feed directly on plants, which can be very damaging. Sadly, in this photo the snail is most likely dead because it is shriveled up outside of the shell. It is possible that the snail died because it had to leave its shell to search for food. In the end, the beating sun eventually caused the snail to dry out, and because it was out of its shell it did not have any protection. In most cases snails will use their mucus to keep them hydrated, or to seal off their shell. However, this snail eventually became too dehydrated and died.2020-03-10T17:06:15+00:00Olivia KuhelAmanda Koziurad8cad79289ca6f3a766facb6fa0fbb11898df036
