The white-tailed deer population in Ohio has greatly increased from 17,000 deer in 1970 to an estimated 700,000 deer today. Deer have become overpopulated and have caused many issues in cities and forests. One reason deer have become overpopulated in parts of the US is the removal of predators such as wolves, black bears, and mountain lions. The habitats have grown smaller and smaller for the predators, which have caused them to be driven out of the area. However, this shrinkage has made these areas better for deer and they can cause damage to remaining forests. They feed on many varieties of plants in the forest and when deer populations are too high, they can cause some plant species to decline or disappear from the area. This means the more overpopulated deer are, the more they can harm the future for forest ecosystems.plain2020-03-13T17:34:54+00:00Madalynn HernandezAmanda Koziurad8cad79289ca6f3a766facb6fa0fbb11898df036
