The player participation of physically clicking the phrase to reveal the character's true thoughts creates immersion, communicating the character's feelings more effectively. In Hamlet on the Holodeck by Janet Murray, it's mentioned that "the enchantments of the computer areas for us a public space that also feels very private and intimate. In psychological terms, computers are liminal objects, located on the threshold between external reality and out own minds. Narrative is also a threshold experience" (Murray 99) . By creating an interactive story that deals with the difficult topic of mental health and suicide, a liminal or "in between" space is created where the reader can safely and genuinely explore the topic without being concerned about consequences. I'm better is intended to raise awareness of a very personal experience without cheapening it or reducing it to fit mainstream ideas of entertainment (Lonien).
