The Vine and the Fish is a webcomic that used the invasive species of the kudzu vine and the "asian carp" to comment on xenophobia in the US, using the story of kudu and the carp as an extended metaphor for the national fear of outsiders "invading" the US. Furthermore, to bring the story and message onto a more personal level, the comic is autobiographical, following the author's childhood move from Michigan to Virginia where she fist learned about the invasive kudzu, largely internalizing the idea of foreign invade. This pice of digital literature tackles the stigma surrounding foreigners by using the example of a vine and a fish to mirror the stigma and prejudice that foreigners face in the US.
