University Awards
Western Reserve University awarded Glennan the honorary Doctor of Laws, 1960.
Case Institute of Technology awarded Glennan the honorary Doctor of Engineering, 1960.
The Case Alumni Association established the President T. Keith Glennan Fund to honor Glennan’s contributions to Case Institute of Technology. The fund supported occasional lectures or lecture series by distinguished speakers selected by the President, 1965.
Case Western Reserve University dedicated its new engineering research and graduate education building the Glennan Space Engineering Building in recognition of Glennan’s “uncommon and creative leadership in the service of higher education, Cleveland, Case Institute of Technology, and his country," 1969.
Case Western Reserve University awarded Glennan the University Medal in honor of his significant contributions to the University, higher education, and to society, 1973.
Gordon and Cora Glennan established the T. Keith Glennan Fund in honor of Glennan’s contributions to the University. The fund was used to provide graduate and undergraduate scholarships or fellowships, 1978.
The T. Keith Glennan Fund in Suport of the University Center for Innovation in Teaching and Education (UCITE) supported the T. Keith Glennan Fellows and other UCITE programs. The fund was established by T. Keith, Gordon and Cora Glennan, 1995.

1948 Division of Social-Humanistic studies was organized, including the departments of Social
Studies and Language and Literature.
1949 Case joined Western Reserve University in a cooperative University Health Service for
students of both institutions.
1950 The United States entered the war in Korea.
1952 The Diamond Jubilee Campaign began. It raised over $2 million for building construction,
operations, scholarships, and other purposes.
1953 James Watson and Frances Crick identified the structure of DNA.
1956 Southdale Center, the U.S.'s first fully enclosed shopping mall, opened.
1957 Building Fund Campaign was launched and ultimately raised $8.3 million for building
construction.
University Circle Development Foundation, later University Circle Inc., was established.
Sputnik I became the first artificial satellite to orbit the Earth.
1960 Cooperative program established between Case and Western Reserve University.
Case assumed responsibility for undergraduate and graduate instruction in the field of
astronomy, and WRU assumed responsibility in the field of geology.
First women undergraduates were admitted to Case on a regular basis.
1961 Establishment of Engineering Division, which combined the former engineering departments
into one unit to promote interdisciplinary activity.
1962 Department of Management was reorganized as the Division of Organizational Sciences with
an Operations Research Group, an Organizational Behavior Group, and an Economics
Group.
John Glenn became the first American to orbit the Earth.
1964 A joint program in philosophy was established between Case and Western Reserve
University.
1965 The Case and WRU Trustees authorized establishment of the Case-Reserve Study
Commission, which ultimately recommended federation of the two institutions.
First U.S. combat troops arrived in Vietnam.
