2000   The College of Arts and Sciences completed its fundraising campaign, begun in 1994,
              with a total attainment of over $90 million. 

              Worldwide efforts were made to upgrade computer systems to prevent problems
              anticipated from incorrect processing of the 2000 date - "Y2K."

              Republican George W. Bush won the disputed 2000 U.S. presidential election over
              Democrat Al Gore. 

              The final original Peanuts comic strip appeared. 

              Hillary Rodham Clinton was elected to the U.S. Senate, the first First Lady to win
              public office. 


2001   The University purchased the Mt. Sinai Medical Center property.
