Military Housing
Barracks 1 Exterior North and East SidesThe overshadowing phenomenon of the year now closing in the American university and college is the unprecedented in-flow of students...the chief factor in this is the student who is returning from War Service, particularly from the armed forces, under the generous provisions of the federal allowance for the education of veterans...facilities for the development of the students as social beings are seriously lacking. Many men and women whose homes are not in Greater Cleveland are forced to find rooms in lodging houses scattered over a great area around the University. These are not always pleasant or satisfactory and frequently no other students are living nearby. Dormitories for men and women, both undergraduate and graduate, are necessary for their comfort and for the social development which group living provides.
