Class Scalar Workbook (Section 119)

Gone Walking?

Walking is not just the process of traveling from point A to point B, rather its the reception, response, and evaluation of stimuli and experiences during the walking process which allow us to passively learn about our environment or, in this case, a story.

Gone Home? in particular forces you to walk from place to place. This allows you to soak up surrounding ambient information in a realistic way rather than the information being actively told to you. This makes you feel more immersed and connected to the game and the story.

The gaming culture of speedrunning is over stimulating which can often lead to a stressful environment and loss of detailed and even major information which could be vital to the story.
