The game, Gone Home utilizes environmental storytelling, guiding the player throughout the house and letting them experience the stories of the various family members living in there. Reed et al. discuss Veale's claim of how a house helps with storytelling "'because the narrative is architectural, both because the story is distributed throughout its structure, and because different areas have been personalized by different people living there'" (132). By allowing the player to explore different rooms of the house, the player can learn about each of the different family members that lived inside of the house, uncovering different parts of the story and build their own understanding of the story being told by the game. This aspect is important because it allows for the player to not only understand Sam's personal journey but also understand the family dynamic as a whole and how it affects each character's journey, providing a bigger picture on their interpersonal relationships.
