Nutly’s Dinosaur Daydreams is housed in an education forum called ABC Mouse. This platform is designed ranging from grades K-2. In addition to these websites, “Teachers can make multi-dimensional storybooks with the use of animation and recorded narrations and music. This simple media integration can be attractive for children. Hypermedia storybooks contain a narrator, characters, plot structure and other essential story telling items” (Ertem 2022). Interactive educational tools such as this integrate popular children’s themes into learning in order to increase engagement and overall enjoyment. This particular game uses dinosaurs to teach children about proper word choice. The user is prompted to pick one of three words that will fit the sentence. They’re given the word type in order to better their ability to make a selection. For example as seen in the image, the user is prompted to choose between the words ‘silly’, ‘clever’, and animals. The photo shows a dinosaur teaching. Using these context clues the child then has to make an observation and choose the words that correctly describes the dinosaur in this situation. Putting the animal in clothes and human like situations improves engagement and relatability for the children. It combines age appropriate interests with everyday activities.
