Blisters kept showing up on his face. These blisters showed up as Pedro’s name card as an HIV patient. Suffering from great pain, both mentally and physically, Pedro was not as fastidious as he used to be. His mind wass weavering. The author, at this spread, employed surrealism in depicting the appearance of Pedro. Half of Pedro’s face was covered by blisters while the rest half was normal. This scene reminded me of the movie “The Dark Knight”. The situation that Pedro was in is similar to Harvey Dent by the time that half of his face was burnt. Both of them used to be spiritual leaders to some group of people. Both of them were questioning themselves at that moment. The dark side in their mind is engulfing their consciousness. When Pedro stared at himself in the mirror, miniscule detail on his face was shown in front of him. Probably this scene happened in Pedro’s dream: he stared at the disease, the disease stared back at him. The background in those panels were blurred, so this scene was less realistic. Different from Harvey Dent, who degenerated into the darkness, Pedro was dare to challenge himself and make a difference to the world.
