Burden of Creation

Being perhaps the last human to be born ever has a sense of finality. You are the youngest, and will always be the youngest. But in the case of New Jerusalem, you are also the wisest, in a way. People put their misconceptions on you, thinking you are someone great to be lauded. People look up to you despite never knowing you. People ask you for advice on things you never even thought about before. And finally, people give you purpose when you don’t even know who you are yet. They call you 1k, but never ask for your opinion on your own name.

All of these burdens, just from being created at the right time, in the right place. And so you are defined with a purpose - the end of new humans. And it isn’t until much later where you start to form your own purpose, outside of just the “puzzle solver”. You come to have friends who respect your opinions, and respect whatever you do. They confide in you, and you confide in them. And you have friends whom you respect, and they respect you back. You become your own person - with thoughts about the Megastructure, New Jerusalem, and the events that happen throughout the story. And how you become your own person is ultimately through the exploration of the island.
