By allowing choice in the game it gives the player a sense of responsibility to complete the task. Additionally it develops a collect them all mindset in which the consumer will want to keep to returning to the game (Pullman 2011). By allowing the choice of when to ‘fight’ the antagonists it creates more control within the atmosphere. The fantasy theme plays into this as well because as the character explores many aspects are uncovered that are seen as unexpected or abnormal provoking thought and further interest. This particular storyline also allows communication with non playable characters who provide tips and help to further the plot. All of this while also integrating themes of password and internet safety make for an engaging and educational play through.
