What Does All of This Look Like For an Organization?
While COVID posed the threat of health and safety for workers and clients as it did with many organizations, Bellefaire had a unique struggle. Not only did they have to cover the bases of keeping everyone safe while remaining an essential service, they also had to adjust to the threats of the pandemic while balancing an extensive live-in residential program for their disable clients.
In our interview with Jeffrey Lox, the Executive Director at Bellefaire JCB, he detailed to us about how many therapists and social workers learned to hold therapy sessions over online platforms such as Zoom. None of their workers had carried out their services online before, and they had to go through training and adjust quickly to the new modes of tele-therapy and tele-health. He comments how while this was a huge change for the organization as a whole, it opened their eyes to new means of reaching out with clients and offering services in the comfort of someone's home.
Another unique struggle was maintaining federal health regulations laid in due to the pandemic all while continuing service for those already dependent on Bellefaire's service. Lox goes on to explain how they had to do their best to coordinate with the change, making sure that social distancing was taking place and practically remodeling their facilities to continue upkeeping those measures and going above and beyond what was expected in order to keep not only the clients, but the workers and the families of everyone involved, safe and sound.
Thankfully as of the interview date, their methods have proved effective, and they have no cases of COVID recorded.
