New Educational Challenges due to Covid-19
Unfortunately, the transition to remote learning and new social distancing guidelines have posed many students with new challenges:
- Students who previously relied on their schools free or reduced lunch programs are at an especially high risk during this pandemic. For some, school lunches were the only meal that they were provided with throughout the day.
- Some students lack reliable internet connection to complete their coursework and join online classes.
- Many students who received after-school tutoring from education nonprofit volunteers can no longer receive the help that they need due to social distancing regulations.
- Education nonprofits must cancel certain in-person fundraising events or ensure that these events meet CDC safety guidelines. They must also look for additional funding to compensate for the reduced donations during a time when the average family income has decreased.
