Academics, 1947-1967
- the Engineering Design (established in 1959 and renamed the Electronics Design Center in 1981)
- the Systems Research Center (established in 1959)
- the Computing Center (established in 1956, formerly dedicated in 1958, and renamed as the Andrew R. Jennings Computing Center in 1963), and
- the Center for Materials (established in 1962).
In 1961 Case abolished all engineering departments and merged them into the Engineering Division. The previous departments were functioning as faculty groupings. This change did not affect Metallurgy (currently Materials Science and Engineering) since it was not considered an engineering department.
The curriculum for the undergraduate programs was developed in collaboration
In 1967, the Engineering Divion was renamed to School of Engineering and the faculty groupings were renamed as Divisions of the School of Engineering.
Biomedical Engineering and Macromolecular Science departments grew out of the collaborations between the faculty groupings and the interdisciplinary centers.
