200 Events in 200 Years: 2010s

2010
Case Western Reserve erected one of the country's first campus-based research wind turbines this year. The 156-foot, 100-kilowatt wind turbine will provide a portion of the Veale Convocation, Athletic and Recreation Center's power and will offer key opportunities for alternative energy research. In its first full year of operation the turbine generated 58,500 KWH or about 5% of the total used by the center.

2011
The Cleveland Play House donated its archives to Kelvin Smith Library. Consisting of approximately 1,000 record storage boxes, the archives documents the history of the country's oldest regional theater.

2012
Associated Press reported that CWRU ranked no. 10 in the Peace Corps' list of top 25 small colleges and universities with volunteers.

2013
The Case Juggling Club held its annual "Spectacular" in March.

2014
CWRU served as one of the host sites in Cleveland for the 2014 Gay Games. Water polo, wrestling, racquetball, squash, and badminton events were held in the Veale Center. Athletes from around the world participated.

2015
The 10th Annual Stephanie Tubbs Jones Gospelfest concert was held as part of Homecoming/Alumni Weekend activities. This annual event was named for double alumna and Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones, FSM1971 & LAW1974.

2016
Associated Collegiate Press place The Observer among the best university publications at a national conference. The Observer placed ninth in the four-year university weekly newspaper and website small school categories.

2017
A CWRU student team won first place at the 7th annual Autonomous Snowplow Competition in St. Paul, Minnesota. The competition challenged students to design, build and operate a fully autonomous snowplow to remove snow from a designated path, while safely avoiding moving and stationary obstacles.

2018
University Archivist Jill M. Tatem retired after a 35 year career in the University Archives and 38 years at CWRU.

2019
The Schools of Dental Medicine, Nursing, and Medicine moved to the new Health Education Campus, located on the Cleveland Clinic campus. The campus consists of two buildings: the Sheila and Eric Samson Pavilion and the Dental Clinic.
