200 Events in 200 Years: 1990s

1990
The Staff Advisory Council, CWRU's first, fully representative staff organization, was established. Pictured here are the interim officers.

1991
Fire gutted Adelbert Hall, the oldest campus building. It took two years to rebuild the historic structure.

1992
Karen Horn was elected as the first woman chair of the CWRU Board of Trustees.

1993
Two new multimedia classrooms opened in the Olin and Smith Buildings. Faculty had networked access to films, videos, cable TV, and other resources for course instruction.

1994
The Holiday CircleFest debuted. CWRU and other University Circle institutions opened in the evening for holiday shopping, exhibits, music, and activities.

1995
The CWRU race team finished first in the EV Grand Prix at Richmond International Raceway in Richmond, Virginia.

1996
The annual Staff Party on the Quad was held to show appreciation to the non-academic staff.

1997
Started in 1972 by the Flora Stone Mather Alumnae Association, Mini-College shared faculty expertise with alumni and parents during Saturday mini-classes.

1998
Medical School students and faculty performed musical numbers, skits, and commercials poking fun at medical school life in the annual Doc Opera.

1999
David H. Auston was inaugurated as CWRU's fifth president. Pictured are (L-R) President Emeritus Agnar Pytte, Trustee Chair John Lewis, and President David H. Auston.
