Merger of Case and WRU Varsity Athletic Teams

Despite Federation of Case and WRU to create Case Western Reserve University on July 1, 1967, both schools continued separate intercollegiate varsity sports programs. Between November 1969 and May 1972, varsity teams from Case and WRU merged.

1969/70: Fencing
1970/71: Football, Wrestling, Swimming
1971/72: Basketball, Baseball, Cross Country, Golf, Soccer, Tennis, Track

There were no women's varsity athletic teams until the 1971/72 academic year. All the team mergers were men's teams.
