Immersion and Simulation Group 2

"When we enter a fictional world, we do not merely 'suspend' a critical faculty; we  also exercise a creative faculty. We do not suspend disbelief so much as we actively create belief. Because of our desire to experience immersion, we focus our attention on the enveloping world and we use our intelligence to reinforce rather than to question the reality of the experience" (Murray 110).

Murray, in her analysis on immersion, claims that we not only ignore the unreality of a fictional world, but actively use our own imaginations to expand the fictional world. In the first image, the overstimulation of visual and audial sensory mirrors the confusion of how individuals who have experienced human trafficking feel. The user is able to build the reality of trafficking while placing themselves inside of the experience in order to better gain an understanding of the turmoil that people experience.
In the second image, the use of the word you highlights the sense of urgency and humiliation. This immerses individuals into the harsh experiences that the victims go through. According to Murray, the work that Motion does to put us in the shoes of the victims works in  tandem with our own imaginations ability to engage with the world of the work. This builds empathy from the player towards the experiences of victims of human trafficking.
