First Cut My first experience with a cadaver was jarring. I had never seen, let alone touched or cut into, a dead body before. The lungs were particularly striking. They looked a dull grey, soft to the touch, and void of air. I could not help but think about how they once were a pale pink and full of life-sustaining breath. This watercolor is a reflection of that juxtaposition.
